Duties

  • Ensure the properly planned induction of employees dealing with projects
  • Ensure new employees understand the college’s mission, goals, values and philosophy; personnel practices, health and safety rules, and of course what is expected of them with clear methods 
  • Induction training plan must be issued to each new employee, before the new employee starts and copied to everyone in the
  • organisation who’s involved in providing the training, so the new starter and everyone else involved can see what’s happening and that everything is included
  • Support and encourage employees to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills and improve their performance
  • Assist the mentee to believe in him/herself and boost his/her confidence. 
  • Document and identify the terms of the agreement as it relates to each contractor and services to be provided. 
  • Ensure the contract outlines the rights and obligations to each other and minimizes the financial risk and loss due to a breach of contract 
  • Agree and document the method to resolve disputes 
  • Ensure the contract contain mutual promises that each party will keep strictly confidential any business information it
  • learns of while performing the contract 
  • Assist with financial planning and financial control of both divisions and sourcing of funds for Occupational programmes
  • Consolidate their ideas and solicit the centre manager’s approval before creating the specifications 
  • Customize each specification to fit each project
  • Ensure both parties agree on the project’s goals and should review the goals during meetings to prevent scope creep and to make sure the service meets its intended target.
  • Build a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) by ensuring that the project’s scope, requirements and deliverables remain intact throughout the twists and turns of the development lifecycle
  • Set Priorities, Boundaries and Limitations 
  • Review the project progress against expected milestones, timelines and costs
  • Provide direction to project team
  • Highlight tasks pending, scheduled tasks

Requirements for Eligibility

Minimum requirements: 

  • An appropriate recognized National Diploma/Degree, backed by a experience in Project Management or Finance, plus at least three years’ relevant experience and knowledge of Occupational programmes. 
  • Valid driver’s licence a must.
  • Competencies:  Understanding of skills development environment, and knowledge of the TVET sector will be an advantage  Sound knowledge of CET Act, PFMA and all other related education and training legislations
  • Ability to analyse, interpret policies and develop proposals and Memorandum of Understanding
  • Sound knowledge of Financial Management, Project Management and HR development strategies
  • Computer literacy

Gert Sibande TVET College was named after a farm workers’ leader in the Eastern Transvaal, African National Congress activist and one of the first-string accused in the Treason Trial of 1956 to 1961. Gert Sibande was born in the Ermelo district in 1902, the son of a tenant farmer.
