Duties
Oversee plant and equipment mechanical maintenance of Grain Management handling and storage facilities. Responsible for managing projects within the Grain Management Engineering department in cooperation with the Engineering Manager and Senior Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure that preventative protocols are in place for the maintenance of appointed equipment at the silos
- Manage Artisans and Contractors performing maintenance on appointed equipment and ensure that the work done by Artisans and Contractors are in accordance with quality and compliance standards Â
- Ensure that projects, maintenance and repairs are executed within the approved budget
- Manage and monitor the maintenance of equipment
- Conduct periodic inspections on all handling and storage facilities
- Manage spares stock levels and ensure timeous procurement of spares
- Manage and monitor the distribution and safekeeping of maintenance spares
- Timeously communicate with silo management regarding maintenance and repairs.
- Research, test and implement innovative maintenance systems and equipment
- Ensure that Artisans and Contractors adhere to the OHS Act to prevent incidents that can cause damage to a person or property
- Manage and monitor compliance with safety standards at all silos
- Plan, manage and coordinate maintenance and upgrade projects
- Co-ordination of resources, plant and spares
- Ensure that projects are executed within the approved budget
- Manage and monitor contractors to ensure quality, inspections and sign-off
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting on projects
- Manage contracts with external vendors

Requirements for Eligibility
- BSc or BTech degree in or Qualified Engineering Technologist in Mechanical Engineering
REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCEÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in the relevant field of mechanical engineering and/or technical project management
- Experience working with handling and storage equipment will be an advantage
- Experience in Project Management
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/ COMPETENCIESÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- MS Office Suite
- Management experience in maintenance planning
- Working knowledge of OHS Act
- Project Management
- Financial and Business Acumen
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Technical and Engineering design – draughting
